Math Workshop CWAA Learning  ·  4-Session Math Heuristics Workshop

Your child understands the concepts. So why do problem sums still feel like a maze?

A 4-session workshop that connects fractions, ratio, algebra, geometry and more into one clear way of thinking — so Primary 6 students can handle the questions that don't look like the ones in the textbook.

Small group sizes   Focused on Primary 6 PSLE Math   Singapore-based

"

He can do the sums when I explain them. The moment it's a question he hasn't seen before, he just freezes.

— A worry we hear from P6 parents, every single year

A familiar frustration

You've probably seen this at the study table

Knows the formula, but freezes the moment a question is phrased differently from what they practised.

Can solve the problem sum — but only after you or a tutor shows them how to start.

Reads the question two or three times and still isn't sure what it's actually asking.

None of this means your child isn't capable. It usually means they haven't yet been taught how to think through an unfamiliar problem — only how to solve a familiar one.

Four sessions, one clear path

From memorised steps to independent thinking

Each session builds on the last, so your child leaves with a method they can apply on their own — not just answers to the questions we covered in class.

1
Session One  ·  Sat, 29 Aug

Parts, Wholes & Proportions

Focus: Fractions, percentage, ratio

Revises how parts and wholes are represented in different forms, and helps students see the connection between fractions, percentages and ratios instead of treating them as isolated topics.

2
Session Two  ·  Sat, 5 Sep

Finding the Unknown

Focus: Ratio, model drawing, algebra

Builds from Session 1 by showing how relationships can be represented using models, ratios and algebra, helping students move confidently between different ways of solving for unknowns.

3
Session Three  ·  Sat, 12 Sep

Geometry Detective

Focus: Angles, circles, area/perimeter, composite figures

Revises key geometry concepts and trains students to identify relationships and information that may not be stated directly in a diagram.

4
Session Four  ·  Sat, 19 Sep

Think Like a PSLE Problem Solver

Focus: Average, rate/speed, volume + mixed concepts

Revises the remaining major concepts and brings the programme together with integrated PSLE-style questions requiring students to combine ideas across topics.

These four sessions focus on the major P6 concepts and problem-solving connections that matter most for PSLE Math — not a re-teaching of the entire syllabus from scratch.

Session Date Concept Focus What Students Revise
1. Parts, Wholes & Proportions Sat, 29 Aug Fractions, percentage, ratio Revises how parts and wholes are represented in different forms, and helps students see the connection between fractions, percentages and ratios instead of treating them as isolated topics.

PSLE Mathematics Fri, 25 Sep Written Papers Students have several days after the final workshop to consolidate, practise independently and prepare for the actual paper.
What changes for your child

Confidence that shows up on exam day

A clear method, not guesswork

A repeatable way to approach any problem sum, familiar or not.

Less exam-time panic

Unfamiliar questions stop feeling like a reason to freeze up.

Working independently

Able to start a question without being shown the first step.

Able to explain their thinking

Not just an answer, but working that shows how they got there.
